Keywords: accident, traffic, young, symbol, symptom, Jungian psychology.
Abstract: The objective of this study aims to analyze the high rate of traffic accidents (AT) among young people through the analytical psychology perspective.
The nature of this research is bibliographic with a review of the literature on electronic archives on the keywords traffic accidents and young, and also a theoretical research in relevant authors of analytical psychology and contemporary sociology.
Some considerations are presented to better understand this phenomenon. One hypothesis is to conceive AT as a social symptom, possibly resultant of a complex power associated with a paternal complex, spread through our society. The suggestion to reduce this high rate of AT among young population is an intervention in the process of the CHN (Driver License) as a passage rite where the procedures could have a symbolic perspective.
