Cuadernos Sistemática Peirceana - Foreword

The first Volumes (1-5) of the Cuadernos de Sistemática Peirceana were produced between 2009 and 2013, and included exclusively contributions by Colombian Peirce scholars (for a precise account, see Cuadernos de Sistemática Peirceana 5 (2013): 133-145). We tried thus to advance some sound Peircean scholarship on a LOCAL basis. If we are not wrong, it has been a unique exercise in the history of Peircean studies.

The next Volumes (6-8) of the Cuadernos de Sistemática Peirceana are oriented along a different, complementary perspective. The Volumes are the product of Symposia held in Bogotá with foreign scholars, specialized in some subfields of Peircean studies:

• PEIRCE'S ESTHETICS (Symposium 2013, yielding Cuadernos 6).
• PEIRCE'S MATHEMATICS (Symposium 2015, yielding Cuadernos 7).
• PEIRCE'S EXISTENTIAL GRAPHS (Symposium 2016, yielding Cuadernos 8).

In this way, the adventure of the Cuadernos de Sistemática Peirceana acquires a GLOBAL perspective. Going global, we multiply the languages, and we wander through articles in French, Italian, Spanish, and, of course, also English, but not situating English in a normalized, unduly preferred situation. In fact, the multiplicity of knowledge requires a multiplicity of perspectives, and we have expressly requested the authors to write in their native (or more skillful) language.
